DOST showcases tech transfer and commercialization programs to “ViScience”

In collaboration with Cebu Technological University and Department of Science and Technology VII, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) held its Zonal Conference – Visayas Leg on February 20 at the CTU Gymnasium, Cebu City, showcasing the DOST’s commitment to driving science, technology, and innovation (STI) for sustainable development and global competitiveness. The conference highlighted flagship programs like Program PROPEL, STI4SDGs, and the PAGTANAW 2050 Foresight Training Series, empowering innovators and stakeholders.

As part of PROPEL’s mission to equip Filipino innovators for the global market, the event also featured in-depth sessions on technologies, focusing on semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), integrated circuits and devices (ICD), and artificial intelligence (AI). Led by industry experts Mr. Glenn Quiro and Dr. John Anthony Jose, these discussions explored how local innovations can scale up for international commercialization and position the Philippines as a key player in the global tech industry.

In his closing remarks, Assistant Secretary Napoleon Juanillo Jr. said, “This is a movement. Let’s keep the conversation going. We’ll work with the regions and provinces to develop structures that create meaningful impact at the ground level because, after all, by building islands of venture, the archipelago of wealth rises. Let’s not just sell to the markets; let’s chase them. Let’s be hungry for collaboration, talent, intellectual exchange, and the co-creation of products that drive economic growth.”

This conference marks the 3rd stop of the nationwide roadshow, following Baguio (North Luzon Leg), Batangas (South Luzon Leg).

A huge thanks to CTU and DOST VII for their invaluable support in making this conference possible.
