Batangas City, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) project, Accelerating Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals for the Philippines or STI4SDGs, participated as an exhibitor during the Inno.Venta 2025: Transforming Discoveries to Economic Impact held on October 23-24 at the Batangas State University – The National Engineering University.

Inno.Venta 2025, an initiative under DOST’s Program PROPEL, was specifically designed to catalyze the commercialization and technology transfer of Filipino research and development (R&D) outputs. Its primary function is connecting innovators directly with industry stakeholders and investors. The STI4SDGs’ presence at this key event was essential, underscoring the project’s mission to embed sustainability metrics directly into the national innovation agenda. By participating, the project effectively leveraged science, technology, and innovation as key enablers of progress toward the global 2030 Agenda.

Showcasing the Evidence-Based Roadmap

The STI4SDGs exhibit booth served as a critical nexus for dialogue. It showcased how the project’s evidence-based, action-oriented project provides clear, strategic direction for leveraging STI to meet national commitments. Specifically, the display demonstrated its focus on R&D portfolio contributions across five (5) high-priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger
  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

Innovation in Action! Inno.Venta participants got hands-on experience exploring the STI4SDG Booth.

Harmonizing STI with Development Targets

This STI4SDGs provides the macro-level guidance necessary to harmonize the output of the Philippine innovation ecosystem with long-term global and national development targets. This will provide a forward-looking action plan that governs strategies at both national and subnational levels. Furthermore, it maintains essential international implications, positioning the Philippines on the global stage for innovation and sustainability. Ultimately, this comprehensive action is vital for promoting the technology transfer of proven, SDG-aligned scientific breakthroughs from the laboratory stage to full-scale commercial deployment, thereby reinforcing STI as the driving force behind the Philippines’ journey toward long-term, sustainable development.

The DOST STI4SDGs team continues to collaborate with key partners to integrate science, technology, and innovation into achieving the country’s SDG targets by 2030.
